Diligence at the size
of the deal.

Emerging fund managers, family offices, and capital providers backing SMEs need the same pre-LOI rigor as the big shops. They can't afford the same retainer. Sentinel is the layer between gut feel and Kroll.

§ 01 — Why this exists for funds

Big firms don't take calls from $50M funds.

Kroll, K2 Integrity, FTI — they're the gold standard for institutional DD. They also rarely take engagements below the mid-five figures, with timelines typically quoted at two-to-six weeks. For a fund writing $1–5M checks across a high-velocity portfolio, neither the price nor the cycle time is workable.

What that leaves is a market gap: deals worth diligence but priced out of getting it. Most emerging funds end up doing it themselves, with a junior associate, a Google search, and a gut feel about the founder. The mistakes that come from that — overlooked litigation, undisclosed related-party transactions, founders with patterns of co-investor friction — are the kind that compound across a fund's track record.

Sentinel produces an Institutional-tier dossier (20–60 pages, full UBO mapping, jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction findings, risk matrix) for $14 per report. It's not Kroll. But it covers the same primary records Kroll covers, in real time, at unit economics that work for a fund running on lean overhead.

Four moments
it pays for itself.

Use case · 01

Pre-LOI screening on a portfolio target

Before the LOI gets drafted, run an Institutional report on the company and its founders. UBO mapping, sanctions, litigation, behavioral consistency — the whole picture in twelve minutes.

Use case · 02

LP onboarding KYC enhancement

New LP commits a check. Layer Sentinel's report on top of your standard KYC for source-of-funds context and adverse media — without paying $5K/LP for an external firm.

Use case · 03

Portfolio monitoring

Re-vet your top portfolio companies quarterly. Catch litigation, executive turnover, or adverse media as it happens, not when the next fund-raise reveals it.

Use case · 04

Co-investor and syndicate vetting

A new co-investor wants in on the round. Quick screen them and their fund before you split control.

§ 01 — What the agent actually does

Not a chatbot.
An analyst with a method.

The moat isn’t the data sources — those are public records anyone can pay for. It’s the discipline the agent applies to them. Four habits that separate Sentinel from a search wrapper.

Multi-lens analysis
Every Standard and Institutional report passes through three perspective lenses: devil's advocate, regulator, counterparty. The agent surfaces what each kind of reader would actually flag — instead of writing one bland report.
Behavioral consistency
Claimed bio versus verified records. Narrative drift across years. Suddenly-deleted public posts. The agent compares what subjects say about themselves with what the public record actually shows — the way a careful human analyst would.
Every claim labeled
VERIFIED, REPORTED, INFERRED, or UNCONFIRMED. Sources cited inline. Contradictions surfaced explicitly. A Sentinel report tells you not just what's true but how confident to be — the discipline most AI tools skip.
Never fabricates
No hallucinated case numbers. No invented citations. When the agent can't confirm something, it says so and lists it as an open lead. Hard rule, enforced in the system prompt and the audit trail.

Executive Summary

VERDICT — Proceed with Conditions. Subject entity is operational, properly formed, and revenue-generating. Two material red flags warrant indemnification carve-outs in the SPA before close.

Top Red Flags

[VERIFIED] Pending Delaware Chancery suit (C.A. No. 2025-████) — fiduciary duty claim filed Jan 2026 by minority LP. Material to deal value.[REPORTED] Founding partner referenced in 2023 FT investigation re: undisclosed related-party transaction at prior firm. Not independently confirmed.[REPORTED] Two senior departures in last 6 months — pattern, not single event.

Positive Signals

[VERIFIED] Clean across OFAC, UK HMT, EU consolidated, UN sanctions.[VERIFIED] No PEP exposure on principals (3 individuals screened).[VERIFIED] Audited financials available — Big-4 reviewer, clean opinion FY24.

Confidence

Overall: High (84%) — primary records accessible, ownership chain mapped to UBO. Limiting factor: one offshore vehicle (Cayman) with restricted disclosure.

Recommended Next Steps

1. Counsel review of C.A. No. 2025-████ filings before LOI2. Direct reference call w/ 2 of 3 departing seniors3. Cayman UBO walk-through via local counsel_
§ 02 — Output tiers

Depth scales to stakes.
Not the other way around.

A bouncer doesn’t need a 60-page institutional report. A $50M acquisition isn’t safe with a one-pager. Sentinel listens for the decision behind the request and calibrates accordingly.

§ 04 — Common questions for this audience

The questions
we hear most.

Will my LPs accept a Sentinel report as evidence of diligence?+

Sentinel produces a structured, citation-rich, audit-trail report. LPs increasingly accept AI-augmented diligence when the methodology is transparent — which Sentinel's labeled-evidence framework provides. For LP-facing materials, most managers use Sentinel as the primary screen and supplement with human review on the deals that warrant it.

Can I keep using my PitchBook / FactSet subscription with this?+

Yes — that's exactly what BYOC is for. On Institutional and Enterprise tiers, connect your existing subscription via OAuth. Sentinel orchestrates the agent against your data without ever touching the licensing seat. You keep the seat; we provide the workflow.

How does this compare to Sayari or Castellum.AI?+

Sayari is a graph database for beneficial-ownership analysis — best in class for that one workflow, but enterprise-priced and typically out of reach for emerging managers. Castellum.AI is a sanctions/PEP screening API. Sentinel is the orchestrating analyst that uses public records (and your premium subscriptions on Institutional+) to produce a complete dossier with verdict and recommended next steps. Different tool, different price point, different output.
